“Pitch to Rich” UX

Information architecture, planning, high fidelity wireframes

The project

The “Pitch to Rich” competition was an opportunity to pitch a business idea to Richard Branson. Small businesses, start ups and entrepreneurs competed for the chance to win a total of £1,000,000 in prizes.

My involvement

When I came on board the competition was underway but the plan and website had not been fully defined. I delivered schematics, information architecture and high fidelity wireframes, incorporating the existing UI design.

Competition Schematic

There was a lack of clarity over the process of the contest, which had many stages involving different judging methods.

From various briefing documents I was given, I pulled together this schematic, which became a reference for the whole team throughout the project.

Information Architecture

The site needed to display different content during the different stages of the competition, so I created a document clearly stating which content needed to be on each page, at each stage.

As I worked on the wireframes, this document was invaluable in keeping track of what needed to be done. I made notes, and highlighted areas that needed attention from myself or the copywriter.

Wireframes

I created high fidelity wireframes for new pages using the existing UI so the developers could clearly see what needed to be done.

Some pages reused modules from existing pages, while others required brand new modules for content like leader boards, profile pages and voting.
